    I love the style of your girls. I like the rendered look of the noses better; but they are all beautiful! I’d love to do another one! What is the difference between acrylic gouache and regular gouache? Is the acrylic gouache more permanent?

    • @ElaTell
      @ElaTell 51 минуту назад

      Thank you!! And yes, definitely will do some more of them here and there when I don’t have other videos I need to share lol And acrylic gouache is basically matte acrylics. Regular gouache is basically opaque watercolor. So they’re completely different and it’s funny that they’re called the same thing.

    Thank you for sharing this. I really enjoy having full length in real time videos, it helps so much to see the little things that are important but somehow get glossed over in voice overs or sped up videos. And I really love to hear the artist thought process. It really helps to see the little fixes or how to deal with mistakes. I get so stressed with faces if I think they look off or incorrect so I am excited to try some of your techniques because they leave room for change and adaptation. I would love for you to do more videos just like this, art hauls are fun but tutorials are way more helpful! Thank you again, I love your girls!

    • @ElaTell
      @ElaTell 5 дней назад

      Thank you for the feedback, it’s so helpful to get that insight. I’m glad to hear this style is more helpful than a sped up video, I might go ahead and stick with real time ones then and just speed up the boring parts that are self explanatory, kind of like I did here. And it’s great that you found some of the tips helpful! I really hope you give this a go. Have fun if you do and let me know how it goes!

    I did it! OMG! This is the very first time I used my Neo 2s and felt great with the process and how it came out! I drew my head too high on the page, so the top part of her hair was cut off, but I love it! My proportions are off still, but I was able to fix a lot with your techniques! I can’t thank you enough! ❤❤❤❤. I would love to do more of these! I don’t know if I can do it on my own, as I’m not good at shadows and highlights. But I’ve learned so much of that from you. Now I understand why these are so forgiving! I could not understand that before! Huge thanks!

    • @ElaTell
      @ElaTell 6 дней назад

      Oh I’m so happy to hear you gave it a go and that the video was helpful!! So excited for you. I love trying new types of art too. I think it’s so great to experiment because you never know what will really resonate until you try it. And I’m the same way - I love being able to use supplies I already have and put them to good use, that’s like my favorite thing (then I feel justified for buying them lol). Thank you for coming back and letting me know how the experiment went! And yeah, I think I’ll go ahead and do more of these paint with me videos down the road. They’re not as popular as art haul videos but I love that they’re more helpful to people, so even if only a handful of people watch it and it helps just a few people, it’s totally worth it. I used to do live videos when I was carving dolls, so maybe I’ll do some of those for painting.

    This is the most comprehensive video of Neo ll’s on RUclips that I’ve found! Wow! Back in 2018, I bought the Neo ll’s and I was using them in the book called “365 of Art” by Lorna Scobie. There wasn’t much on RUclips back then, so I had to put clear Gesso on my pages as the paper was too thin. Then I blended them with a baby wipe. I had no clue about all of this! Thank you!

    I love this! I have neocolor ll’s and I don’t use them because I usually use watercolors and Neos are difficult for me to understand. I didn’t realize that they can be blended with gouache, pulled off like watercolors, and I’ve never seen anyone use colored pencils! All of your techniques were so helpful and I’m going to try this tomorrow! I’m not very good at drawing faces but I can follow this! My hands hurt so bad with full color pencil drawings, so you’re not alone on that. I have arches watercolor paper, both in cold pressed and hot pressed. What do you think would be the best for a beginner using your techniques? I have all other supplies. Thank you so much for sharing your entire process! I’m looking forward to trying this tomorrow.

    • @ElaTell

      Oh I’m so glad this was helpful! So excited to hear how you like it when you try it! Definitely don’t even worry about the faces being symmetrical or having to be a certain way, just have fun with it. And I’d recommend using the hot press paper. It’s better for faces and for dissolving neocolor and using pencil on top. Will be much easier for getting smooth results. Cold press paper is probably use for looser only watercolor painting. Hot press paper is great for mixed media

    Hullo Ela, I enjoyed seeing your actual working sketchbook! So many sketchbook tours are a compendium of art done so fine that it simply cannot be an actual working sketchbook! I was taught to use work books for compiling ideas for a given project and I used watercolor books and larger mixed media books to put all of the ideas down so I could keep everything for the project together. I have only ever had 1 sketchbook and it was from a drawing class in college, It had a lot of very junky drawings and parts of drawings that I simply did not finish! I like your vision and I hope you do turn some of these ideas into larger finished paintings!

    • @ElaTell
      @ElaTell 27 дней назад

      Thank you! And yes, I’ve been thinking of the sketchbooks as just places to practice various skills, try out color palettes and ideas I’m not sure about, and in general experiment and see what I enjoy. They’re definitely not finished artworks, but I try to make them complete enough that they’re useful and I can learn something from the experience. And also ideas of course for larger pieces. Although I doubt I would ever do a larger finished artwork that’s purely abstract art. Maybe I would try to incorporate some elements of abstract art into finished pieces though. I bought a 15 set of Neocolour II last week, been having so much fun they just feel so risk free. Have to say of all the videos I’ve watched about them this was by far the most helpful and your sketchbook styles are epic, so inspiring.

      Oh that’s awesome, I’m glad you’re enjoying them! I totally agree, they just feel very easy to use and you can even “erase” them with water lol And thank you so much! I’m glad you liked the art and I’m really happy to hear the video was useful!! That was my main goal with it ☺️

    You made me laugh out loud! When you said that your palettes are full and you are not going to buy any more of that brand! I have switched paints in and out of working palettes for years! I even purchased a studio palette that held 64 colors/pans and I can pick and place any color or brand that fits my fancy! This is a Robax palette, it is round and spins and has replaceable pans. I can fill one up and pop it out if I find that I want a different color or brand! Thank you for sharing your treasures and giving me a good laugh. I hope you come to see the silliness of only having so many colors to fit inside any palette, but maybe you can avoid buying more paint than you truly need. I have never met an Artist that could, I even have trouble saying no to a gift of a tube of paint even if I have a similar unopened one at home in a drawer! Please take care and enjoy the rest of your day!

      I’ve seen those Rona’s palettes on RUclips before. And yes, exactly what you said - for me, it’s been a great way to limit my shopping. I mean, there are only so many colors you can possibly need! But I do love shopping so would probably just expand to trying other brands. Anyway, thank you for watching and commenting and I’m glad you enjoyed the vid! ☺️

    Hullo Ela, I learned the lesson around 20+ years ago to not spend money on “cheap” papers. I only buy 100% cotton paper and you don’t have to buy Arches every time. There are many store brands, Blick’s and Cheap Joe’s named their watercolor paper Kilimanjaro! I have learned that so many of my “experiments” became beautiful art and if they were on that cheap paper or sketchy surface I never was able to replicate the original! So I could sell the “better” piece but it was not as inspired an artwork! Please learn from my experience that even a “practice piece” can become an amazing piece of art!

      I totally agree! I was planning on using just the nice paper once I ran out of the cheaper paper but I got so used to using the heap paper, that I like it too and I couldn’t pass up the $4 price tag! And it’s useful for swatches and quick experiments

    Such a nice haul! I am an avid journaler and notetaker too. I adore gel pens for so many reasons but boy, I do go through them fast if I just use those. Smooth, easy to travel with and to replace when inevitably “borrowed” by someone. I tend to use fountain pens at home because they have the same smooth feeling, but I run through the ink bottles a lot slower. 😂

    Hello ,any advice on using this paints on carbon...are they permanent?

    • @ElaTell
      @ElaTell Месяц назад

      Hi! They’re permanent because they’re acrylics. But I’m not sure what carbon is?

      It is quiver tips for feeder fishing..the upper part of a feeder quiver

      @@cairgonul9080 theoretically, acrylics should hold up to being exposed to water. Not sure how well they’d hold up with repeated use, but it’s worth a shot. Although you could also just buy the cheapest acrylics for that since you don’t need them to be lightfast like you would for fine art.
